2020 : International Year of Midwives and Nursing Personnel.

WHO is dedicating 2020 to midwives and nurses. Midwives and nurses are key players in the health system. It is an opportunity not only to pay tribute to these health personnel, but also to mark a pause by taking a critical look at their working conditions, their rights and duties with a view to take improvement measures for the happiness of all.

According to data from a WHO regional survey, the number of health personnel in Cameroon is estimated at 27,978, i.e. a calculated density of health personnel of 11.53 per 10,000 inhabitants, or 1.5 doctors per 10,000 inhabitants. Nevetheless, this quantity is insufficient. Cameroon, as defined in its Vision 2035 and included in its Health Sector Strategy 2016-2027 (HSS), aspires to universal health coverage “for a healthy, productive human capital capable of driving strong, inclusive and sustainable growth “. This objective can be achieved if and only if all conditions are met to have a solid health system including the availability of a human resource quantitatively and qualitatively sufficient and well remunerated accompanied by sufficient sanitary equipments and kits to meet the need of the society.

BRAVO TO MIDWIVES AND NURSING STAFF !!!!
